The Word became flesh / by Francis J. Moloney.

Moloney, F. J. - Personal Name;

Abstract St. John's Gospel has always been one of the most widely read and admired documents from the New Testament. Moving words from Jesus call us to life, light and truth, and we are told that this truth will set us free. In many ways, Jesus' words in this Gospel have an immediate appeal to contemporary men and women. Despite this, there are still many who find John's presentation of Jesus unreal, and scholars have gone so far as to claim that the Johannine Jesus is "a God striding over the earth", distant from hopes and needs of mere mortals. Like all Evangelists, John was a product of his time, influenced by his social, cultural and religious environment. Beyond all this, however, stands the impact which Jesus of Nazareth had upon him. John's Gospel is an attempt to give witness to the unique event of Jesus of Nazareth. This book discusses what John means when he portrays Jesus as the Logos, the Son of God, the Son of Man and the Messiah, passing from pre-existence in God, through "the hour" of an incarnation and death to come to his final glory with his Father.
